200 to 212 West Michigan Avenue are one building. Built in 1879 it was originally referred to as the ‘Union Block.’ Today many people know the building as the ‘Kresge Building’ because an S.S. Kresge store occupied the first floor from 1929 until 1966. Prior to 1929 and after 1966 a wide variety of business occupied the retail spaces, while apartments were above.
